Crude Oil Storage Tank Wireless Monitoring and Transmission

Project Overview

Against the backdrop of challenges faced by traditional wired monitoring systems, such as deployment difficulties, poor flexibility, and high costs, the crude oil storage tank wireless monitoring project has emerged. We are committed to creating a comprehensive, efficient, and responsive modern security system through innovative technological solutions.
The storage medium in the tanks is crude oil. The cameras use explosion-proof dome cameras, and the images use the H.265 compression encoding standard at 1080P. The project involves video transmission from a total of 6 oil depots, 40 storage tanks, and 40 explosion-proof dome cameras.
The current plan is to use a wireless transmission solution to transmit video data from the aforementioned monitoring points;
Product selection should meet the following requirements:
1. Compliant with the explosion-proof requirements of crude oil storage tanks;
2. The product should provide product qualification certificates such as explosion-proof certificates, 3C certification, and radio model approval certificates;
3. The on-site environment requires the total wireless transmission power not to exceed 2W, i.e., ERIP ≤ 33dbm;

Wireless Transmission Network

One explosion-proof camera is installed above each oil depot. The images use the H.265 compression encoding standard at 1080P, with an estimated transmission bitrate of 2-3 Mbps (considering burst bytes);
For the wireless part, a point-to-multipoint transmission scheme is adopted. A receiving base station is deployed at the light pole (where fiber optic cables are available) to receive monitoring data transmitted from the front end;
The Maxon MX811 series supports the 802.11ac protocol, supports MIMO 2×2, with a maximum speed of 867Mbps. Explosion-proof rating Exd IIB T6, 1 Gigabit WAN port, 1 Gigabit LAN port, PoE power supply, IP68 protection rating, maximum transmission power 25dbm, adjustable power;
External directional/omnidirectional antennas can be selected according to the actual on-site conditions.

Relay Solution

If there are obstructions or long distances between some points and the receiving base station, a relay aggregation point can be added to transmit the video data from the monitoring front end to the relay aggregation point, and then back to the receiving base station at the light pole.
