Project Background
The water treatment plant, a "magician of pure water" hidden amidst the hustle and bustle of the city, silently safeguards the drinking water safety of residents and the normal operation of society. To improve its management efficiency, this project aims to achieve seamless Wi-Fi coverage throughout the entire water treatment plant and precise personnel positioning within the work areas, with all implementation work conducted under the premise of ensuring the plant's daily safe production.
Solution
For the wireless coverage WLAN system within the plant area, Maxon adopts a distributed deployment. Based on site survey results, 171 outdoor industrial-grade 802.11ac wireless base stations are deployed across various components of the buildings (including the comprehensive office building and production operation areas). These are ultimately aggregated to the core switch of the network management center via PoE switches (or powered by PoE modules). All APs will be managed through a wireless controller to provide a secure, convenient, and efficient wireless management system, ensuring a reliable and secure WLAN system.
The outdoor industrial-grade wireless Wi-Fi base stations MX5012A-MI6/MX5012A-ME8 have built-in Wi-Fi wireless probe functionality. Combined with the MX-SLSYS personnel positioning system, they can achieve precise personnel positioning and wireless coverage in work areas, with a maximum positioning accuracy of 5-10 meters.
Workers wear safety helmet-mounted or badge-type Wi-Fi positioning tags, which send information wirelessly to the Wi-Fi access points (APs). The APs then send the information to the ground-based positioning server, which calculates the worker's location.
Based on location information, the system can also implement personnel patrol positioning, trajectory tracking, and electronic fence alarms within the area.
Project Advantages
The system integrates Wi-Fi wireless coverage and Wi-Fi positioning technology, fully meeting the needs of modern water treatment plants for digital transformation and personnel safety management. The MX270-C series tags and UB100 safety helmet tags (requiring Maxon WIFI+UWB integrated base stations) serve as positioning terminals, supporting both Wi-Fi and UWB signals. They feature long-distance identification, low power consumption, long battery life, portability, and maintenance-free operation, enabling stable and seamless positioning and tracking in complex indoor and outdoor environments. The core device, the Maxon MX5012A-MI6 base station, features IP68 protection and a wide operating temperature range of -40 to +70℃, specifically designed for harsh industrial environments, ensuring stable system operation even in dusty, humid, and extreme temperature conditions. All terminal tags boast low power consumption, long battery life, and high impact resistance, meeting the demands of long-term field use. Deployment is quick and easy, utilizing extensive wireless connectivity, avoiding the need for large-scale excavation and fiber optic cable laying, significantly shortening construction time and reducing construction and maintenance costs.
